FAQs & Order Terms

1. WHAT's THE DEAL...
The Kiefer Companies is a 25-year-old company based in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and is the nation's largest supply house to auctioneers and antique dealers. They mail quarterly catalogs and supply both industries with the products they need to run their businesses. The firm is owned by Kurt Kiefer, a commercial auctioneer who started the firm in 1980. See us on the web at: www.kiefers.com.

Another division of the company deals with surplus inventories, which it wholesales to a variety of businesses and industries. Its buyers scout the country finding discontinued, overstock and surplus inventories, bankrupt stock, and bank repositions. Occasionally we stumble upon such a terrific find that even if it is somewhat outside of our traditional markets, we buy it. Such was the case with Vintage Trims. The inventory was much more than simple inventory; it was like a history of trims from decades gone by.

2. HOW MUCH TRIM IS THERE?
Originally the trim was 12 semi loads, comprising over 100 million yards of all types of fabric trims and lace. We catalog thousands of styles. We are in the process of putting the entire inventory up on the web and work on it every day. Keep checking back because today there is more to see than yesterday, and more tomorrow. We have a mountain of several thousand sealed boxes yet to open.

3. IS ALL THE TRIM GOOD?
Understand this is fabric, and it is vintage. With that being said, it is in remarkably good condition. Most of the trims cannot be told from those new "off the line." A few of the jacquards have a slight discoloration around the edges depending upon the age of the trim--nothing you wouldn't expect from fabrics this age. BUT, all our products are guaranteed to your satisfaction and have been for 25 years (see below). The vast majority of the trims look showroom new and are fantastic, but we want you to know these are truly vintage. If there is obvious discoloration or age signs, we try to note it on that item's discription. This really isn't an issue; we've had only a handful of returns in the years we've had these trims.

4. ABOUT THE PICTURES YOU SEE...
We take great lengths to photograph the trims in good natural light to give you a perfect picture of what they look like and the actual colors. On most trims you'll see a measured background to give you the best idea of what the pattern size and repeat is. We take these steps to help you to make the proper buying decisions.

5. DO YOU SELL BY THE YARD?
NO. We only sell by the full roll at extremely discounted wholesale prices. Many of our customers sell the excess they don't need on E-bay or other markets. We wish we could sell part rolls, but we simply cannot. Our goal is to eventually move out of this inventory, so we pass along the fabulous buys to you.

6. HOW FAST DO YOU SHIP?
Generally we ship within two business days of your order. Many times the order will ship the same day. Orders of a roll or two take less time to pick than orders of 100 or more, so please be patient. We usually ship by FED-EX Ground and have a tracking number on all packages.

7. IS THE FREIGHT REALLY "FREE"?
There is a small $6.85 order processing fee on each order, but there is NO FREIGHT CHARGE at all. It's in your best interest to stock up and buy a few rolls (perhaps you should buy "many" rolls.) This offer applies only in the continental United States. We do ship worldwide, but you must pay the actual freight cost, plus the $6.85 order processing fee.

8. HOW ABOUT YOUR GUARANTEE...
When we started in business in 1980, we didn't have a minimum order and we offered a guarantee on EVERY product we sold. Guess what? We haven't changed either policy. We still don't have a "minimum order" and we still offer the same product guarantee:

KIEFER'S GUARANTEE (unchanged for the past 25 years)
Your satisfaction is important to us.
Our guarantee is simple; you must be satisfied, and you are the only judge.
If you are not satisfied for any reason, you may return your product to us for a refund (less a 15% restocking charge on trims).

You must return the trims to us in the same condition and pay the freight back to us. We'll issue you a refund in the same manner of payment in which you paid us (check, credit card, etc), or you can use the credit to trade for another trim.
