On August 22, 1851, the yacht "America" outsailed the entire British fleet in a race around the Isle of Wight. The nearest British yact to her, "Aurora", finished 8 minutes after the "America". "America" is pictured at the Nab Light with the rest of the fleet following her into Sandown Bay. The 100 Guinea Cup she won was renamed in her honor "The America's Cup".
